Ep. 57 | Mid-Autumn Festival
Mid-Autumn Festival takes place every year on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese calendar. This year that date falls on September 12. The Chinese world will be celebrating the holiday in very much the same way that generations have enjoyed going back to ancient times.
Families will get together and stroll in public gathering places. Children will carry all manners of lanterns and everyone will gaze at the moon. Due to the autumnal equinox, our moon is at its roundest and brightest. Enjoy a moon cake everyone and 看月亮!
Welcome to the conclusion of our series on the history of Tang Poetry. The Late Tang period of Chinese poetry was marked with all the signs of an imperial house in decline. It was a sad and melancholy time and quite a few Late Tang poems expressed the hopelessness felt during these sorrowful years.
